Wendi Schirvar, Ph.D., NCSP
Wendi M Schirvar specializes in children and adolescents with advanced development by addressing a variety of issues including dysynchronous development; parenting non-compliant and resistant behaviors; executive functioning, attentional and emotion regulation deficits; twice exceptionalities; behavioral dysregulation; and learning problems. With a background in Child Development, Attachment Research, Parent Education and Educational Psychology, she brings an eclectic blend of theory and practice to her work assisting individuals with specific behaviors as well as parenting issues (strengthening families and redirecting difficult behaviors), testing concerns, school advocacy, educational planning, and family goal setting.
Dr. Schirvar serves as the Minnesota Liaison to the national organization SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted Students), and Legislative Liaison to MN Council for Gifted & Talented. She is a frequently sought presenter to local and national professional and parent groups as she brings humor and experience to her presentation of best practices. Her philosophy is grounded in the premise that all families have strengths, apparent or yet to be discovered, and her “work” is to empower, coach and support families to realize and maximize their strengths together. She is impassioned to bring this to fruition through a soon-to-be-published book to support parents and providers on teaching emotional awareness and regulation. Most of the time you will find her regulating herself through numerous outdoor adventures or fear-inducing challenges!

make and keep friends
Jennifer Elton, M.A., CCC-SLP
Jennifer Elton's training and experience as a speech-language pathologist, elementary education teacher, and home health care provider have enabled her to effectively understand the communicative needs of children and teenagers. She has a strong understanding of the education system and special education due process requirements of the state of Minnesota, as well as understanding of the Minnesota Department of Health's servicing patients in the area speech and language. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University in 1994. She worked in a group home, for many years. It was at that point she learned that she wanted to do as much as she could to help people communicate to their fullest ability. She attended graduate school at Wichita State University and graduated summa cum laude in 1998.
When Jennifer is not working, she loves to spend time with her family, seeing movies with her husband, going for walks, and playing with her two dogs. This winter, you may see her out on the slopes trying to improve her ability to ski!
